Yes. That’s right. VB Ice Cream is now a thing. With Tim Tams, Lamingtons, Meat Pies, ANZAC Biscuits, Smashed Avo, Vegemite, Golden Gaytimes and the Pavlova (though in hot contention against the NZ) forming the list of iconic Australian dishes, Victoria Bitter can also be inducted into this unique hall of flavours – in an ice cream cone. And all credit can be laid at the GC’s doorstep as the creator.

Gold Coast’s Zanette Gelati has launched the most Aussie dish yet where owner Frank Bailey has gone all Zumbo drunkies and made VB taste the Very Best it can. Frank clearly loves to experiment with different flavours, with the gelato store also offering Corona & Lime, Baileys, Vegemite, Red Bull and – thankfully remaining loyal to the state – XXXX Gold gelato. There’s no irony lost either, that it’s taken Queensland to refine an iconic New South Wales brand – even if the NSW Blues did replace VB for Tooheys this year (which clearly didn’t change their chances of winning either).

And unlike every other beer ice creams where the beer ‘flavours’ the frozen dessert and you need to eat your body weight in it before getting close to feeling buzzed, the VB Ice Cream is available only upon presentation of 18+ ID in keeping to Liquor Licensing, due to its high alcoholic content. Which means, it really is awesome – cos when you’re 18+ and it’s alcoholic, it’s better.

While alcohol-infused desserts aren’t new, VB elevated to something this good, is.
